The Stevie Project

The Stevie Project is not just a tribute band — it’s a living, breathing homage to the magic, mystery, and magnetism of Stevie Nicks.

Fronted by Edmonton’s own Laurie Slater, and backed by a powerhouse 5-piece band, this captivating show channels decades of Stevie’s storytelling, spellbinding vocals, and unforgettable stage presence into a one-of-a-kind concert experience. With 30+ years of performance experience across Canada, Laurie brings passion, soul, and authenticity to every note. Her vocals resonate with Stevie’s raw power and emotion — not an impersonation, but a channeled connection.

This is a theatrical, chronological journey through Stevie’s life and music — from her earliest songs to her timeless solo hits — with select Fleetwood Mac classics woven in to tell her story. Each song is paired with a glimpse into the woman who wrote it: her lifelong ties to Lindsay Buckingham, her legendary years with Fleetwood Mac, her enduring collaborations with her backup vocalists Sharon Celani, Lori Perry (now Lori Nicks), and Waddy Wachtel her lifetime guitarist, and her cherished friendships with the likes of Tom Petty and Don Henley and more — along with her poetic musings, spiritual influences, and the deep emotion behind every song she penned.

From the mysticism of Rhiannon, to the rock ‘n’ roll heartbeat of Edge of Seventeen, to the aching beauty of Leather and Lace, The Stevie Project is an unforgettable celebration of Stevie (Stephanie) Nicks — a wild heart, a rock goddess, a musical icon — and the timeless songs that continue to stir our souls. We are honoured to bring you her music live.

Our Story

Three of the original members of Mac Daddy – The Fleetwood Mac Experience — Laurie Slater, Mark Donaghy, and Crystal Goodfellow — toured Alberta and Saskatchewan from 2018 to 2022, captivating audiences with their heartfelt performances. When two members unexpectedly departed for personal reasons, Laurie found herself at a crossroads.

Guided by her deep passion for singing and performing, she set out to create something new — a show that would celebrate not just the music, but the life, spirit, and legacy of Stevie Nicks herself.

Thus, The Stevie Project was born: an immersive live experience blending story, song, and soul. Laurie and her talented band take audiences on a journey through the timeless hits and hidden gems that define one of rock’s most iconic voices — from Fleetwood Mac classics to Stevie’s powerful solo work.

Our Why

Laurie Middaugh-Slater grew up on Stevie's music with Fleetwood Mac and all the other great bands of that era, who were instrumental in forming her own style as a singer/songwriter/performer and tribute songstress actress! Why does she do it?

For Laurie, The Stevie Project isn’t just about performing the songs — it’s about channeling the essence of Stevie Nicks: the poetry, the power, the mystery, and the deep emotional connection that has inspired generations.

Each performance is both a tribute and a transformation — honoring Stevie’s legacy while allowing Laurie’s own artistry and spirit to shine through. It’s her way of giving back to the music that shaped her life… and sharing that magic with audiences who feel it too.
